Social Bubbles

People inherently seek out like-minded people who can validate the seeker's preconceived ideas. This is known as affinity-seeking behavior. Validation and fear go hand-in-hand to create divisions between groups of people based on physical appearance, a lack of accurate information, and a surplus of disinformation.

Link to the Google Doc "The Origins of Bigotry" outline.

People divide and isolate themselves and their own kind based a number of factors including but not limited to the following:
  • Skin color
  • Ethnicity
  • Language
These tend to be judged from a distance with minimal direct communication. People are further divided into sub-groups that can be inclusive of members from the above list:
  • Socioeconomic Stratification
  • Physical characteristics such health, weight, hair loss, eye color, defects, etc.
  • Established Religion
  • Politics
  • School extra-curricular activitiies
  • Limited Values Structires
    • Pro life
    • Pro choice
    • Gun control
    • Gun rights
    • Anti Vaccination
    • Conspiracy Theorists
    • Race Domination
  • Hobbies and Entertainment
Some of these sub-groups can create a false sense of intellectual superiority in their diversity of membership.
